A trio of Cronulla Sharks players have been chosen in the Australia squad to face New Zealand next Friday.
Ruan Sims, Corban McGregor and Maddie Studdon have been named in the 25-woman squad for the Jillaroos’ clash with the Kiwi Ferns in Canberra as part of the Test double header.
The trio will be joined by another former Cronulla Caringbah player, fullback Sam Bremner, as players look to impress ahead of the women’s rugby league World Cup to be played at Southern Cross Group Stadium in November.
Jillaroos coach Brad Donald will assemble his squad on the Gold Coast today before naming a final team on Sunday.
“The Test match next week looms as a significant occasion for our team,” Donald said.
“Our women had a momentous win against the Ferns in Auckland at the start of this year as part of the Nines tournament.
“The Test match next week however is entirely different and we will need to be at our peak against what will no doubt be a New Zealand outfit out to make amends.”
