Sutherland Shire Council will join with local community to remember the 1770 landing of Lieutenant James Cook and the crew of the Endeavour this Saturday.
It will be the 247th anniversary of the landing.
Called the Meeting of Two Cultures, the event will take place adjacent to The Meeting Place, behind the Discovery Centre, at Kamay Botany Bay National Park, Kurnell at 11am.
Along with Endeavour’s landing, the ceremony acknowledges the traditional owners of our land, the Australian Aboriginal people, and the meeting of the indigenous inhabitants with the European explorers.
A Welcome to Country and guest speakers will be followed by a guided tour along the Burrawang Walk.
Guests not participating in the tour may like to stroll through the Discovery Centre museum.
