Thousands of walkers, runners and supporters have flooded into Don Lucas Reserve at Wanda Beach to support cancer sufferers and take part in the 2017 Sutherland Shire Relay for Life.
The opening ceremony was held this morning followed by an honorary lap for cancer survivors and carers.
Thousands then lined up for the official start at 10am with Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce getting the event underway. Keen teams will spend the next 24 hours walking around the 430m track to raise funds for Cancer Council NSW.
