Southern Districts returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 34-27 win over West Harbour on Saturday.
Souths welcomed the Pirates to Forshaw Rugby Park, Sylvania Waters, for the round seven Shute Shield clash needing to win to stay in touch with the top five after an indifferent start to the season.
The Rebels fired with tries to Angus Ryan, Conor Mitchell, Paul Asquith and Luke Smart as the hosts eventually ran out seven-point winners and secured a bonus point.
Former Queensland under-20s scrum-half Elijah Pilz was outstanding on his debut for the Rebels, turning in a man of the match performance.
It was a good day for the rest of the club, with second and fourth grade also winning. Souths’ three colts teams also all had victories.
