Do not bother to hook up to NBN you will live to regret it.
We had the installed NBN recently and were without internet or landline for five days.
We then had to pay an aerial technician to connect our Foxtel to the modem upstairs where the computer is.
Now our landline phone has a constant engaged signal when you are on the phone.
We were told by Optus (from India) that we will have to pay an electrician to wire up our downstairs phone to the modem upstairs where the computer is.
Not worth the expense and trouble.

So far the parts of Yarrawarrah, Engadine and Heathcote that are either ready for service or almost ready are using existing infrastructure (otherwise commonly known as cable) so its more or less the flick of a switch with the odd new “tail” run to the dwelling.

My grandparents are now basically being forced to upgrade to a service they won't use.
They only need their phones and we can't find any plans with just phones use ... only internet and phone and costing a lot more than what they are currently using.

Going off current NBN figures of the currently rolled out HFC/FTTN network it is going to cost $4,013,932,698.
Which costs $2,679,103,380 more than originally just rolling out FTTP in the first place!
Now think of the wasted time and inadequate broadband infrastructure has on small businesses and the community and the wasted billions start add up.
Still should've been FTTP to be more cost effective, in the long term.

Never found NBN any different ... certainly nothing to rave about.

People I know who are already on the NBN in the shire are getting worse speeds than a slow ADSL connection. It's a complete con.
