A Taste of the Shire is a celebration of food and wine which showcases Sutherland Shire businesses as well as winemakers and craft brewers from all over NSW.
It is returning to Sutherland this year after such a successful inauguration in May 2016.
The event will be held on Sunday, May 28, from 8.30am at Peace Park, Eton Street Sutherland.
There will be 35 stalls of various food and drink on display as well as children’s activities, entertainment and cooking competitions.
A Taste of the Shire is promoted by the Sutherland Rotary Club which labelled last year’s event as a “roaring success”.
President of Sutherland Rotary Club, Robbert Fox, said around 10,000 people attended last year’s event.
“It’s a great day out for the family,” he said.
“It’s easy too, just purchase your tokens on the day then stroll around and exchange them for the tastes which take your fancy!”
Mr Fox said the club hoped to make it a signature event.
The Rotary Club received strong support from the council who were highly impressed with what happened last year.
“The concept behind it is to publicise local food and beverage outlets,” Mr Fox said.
New to the line-up this year is an oyster shucker who will give a tasting demonstration.
Bands from Caringbah, Kirrawee and Port Hacking high school will be providing entertainment.
