Cronulla left it late to down North Queensland 18-14 on Thursday night.

The Sharks also helped commemorate the NRL’s Beanies for Brain Cancer round, an initiative of the Mark Hughes Foundation. The former Newcastle Knights premiership-winner was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013.

All funds raised throughout the round will go to the foundation, with the aim to raise a minimum of $500,000 to fund a three-year research fellowship in another brain cancer research area.

Meanwhile, the Sharks women’s team downed Manly 18-4, while Cronulla’s under-20s beat North Queensland 40-24.
