Cronulla and St George Illawarra will make up more than a third of the NSW team to take on Queensland in State of Origin I.
The Blues have been bolstered by the inclusion of four Sharks and two Dragons players for the series opener in Brisbane next Wednesday night.
Cronulla’s James Maloney will partner former Sydney Roosters teammate Mitchell Pearce in the halves, while Sharks prop Andrew Fifita will start in the front row.
Fellow Sharks Wade Graham and Jack Bird have been named on the bench.
St George Illawarra are also well represented, with Tyson Frizell named to start at lock.
Josh Dugan, who will swap the red v for the black, white and blue next season, has been named in the centres. But he will still need to overcome a fractured cheekbone suffered playing for Australia in the Anzac Test. It is understood if Dugan fails to recover in time, Bird will come into the starting team.
NSW coach Laurie Daley has named Roosters forward Boyd Cordner to take over from Cronulla’s Paul Gallen as the new Blues’ captain.
St George Illawarra’s Jack de Belin was rewarded for his outstanding form to start the season, named as a NSW shadow player. He will go into camp and act as cover.
There were no Cronulla or St George Illawarra players named for Queensland earlier today, with Test representative Valentine Holmes the big surprise missing out.
