Australians have recycled over 3.5 million printer cartridges over the past year – with St George residents and businesses among the best at recycling used cartridges.
The huge number equates to 386 bath tubs full of cartridges being recycled every working day.
The Kogarah area contributed 11,730 recycled cartridges, Hurtsville 5362, Rockdale 3430 and the Sutherland Shire 27,420.
Across Australia, 900km of roads have been paved with road sealant and surfacing products made from recycled printer cartridges, which roughly equates to going from Sydney to Melbourne.
The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program has helped raise awareness about the importance of recycling, to try keep printer cartridges out of landfills.
