Northies at Cronulla has been named on the NSW Government’s latest half-yearly violent venues list.
Thirteen incidents of violence were recorded for Northies in the last 12 months, placing it in the level two category of 12 to 18 incidents in a year.
Level two restrictions include ceasing alcohol service 30 minutes before closing, no glass or breakable containers after midnight, alcohol time-outs or free water and food for 10 minutes every hour after midnight, a requirement to maintain a detailed incident register whenever trading and extra compliance monitoring.
The Cronulla nightspot joins fourteen other venues listed.
That includes the Home Nightclub in Sydney, PJ’s Irish Pub in Parramatta, the Sydney Junction Hotel in Hamilton and The Sunken Monkey Hotel in Erina.
The Ivy in Sydney was the only venue listed for category one with 36 incidents recorded.
Liquor and Gaming NSW Deputy Secretary Paul Newson said there had been a 82 per cent fall in the number of violent incidents since the scheme was established in 2008.
‘’This latest list follows the scheme’s best ever results six months ago when for the first time there were no venues in level one,” he said.
“Listed venues will be closely monitored but the results show the level of violent incidents remains on a longer-term downward trend.
“The vast majority of venues across NSW do the right thing and provide a safe environment for people to enjoy a night out.”
