Country music singer songwriter Arna Georgia is launching her debut EP at a Brass Monkey gig on August 3.
Georgia, from Sans Souci, said she had drawn inspiration for her debut album from performers like The Carter Family, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash.
She hopes she has embodied all of these influences to create a unique sound that is truly her own.
‘‘I wanted to create something totally different and unique, and I can’t wait to share these songs and this record,’’ Georgia said.
The EP includes a number of individually written songs as well as co-writes with Michael Carpenter, Bill Chambers and Catherine Britt.
Georgia recently graduated from the CMAA Academy of Country Music in 2016 where she was mentored by a number of Australian country music greats.
‘‘The CMAA Academy of country music absolutely changed my life,’’ Georgia said. ‘‘It showed me that it was possible to turn this passion in to a career and has inspired me to work as hard as I can to make it happen.’’
Over the last two years, Georgia has performed at a number of country music festivals including The Tamworth Country Music Festival and The Hats Off To Country Festival.
In late 2016 Georgia took a five-week trip to the US in which she played in both Texas and Nashville and performed as part of Sounds Australia in Americanafest.
