The Salvation Army at Menai will launch a new mid-week ministry at its centre in Bangor.
To be called The Wednesday Community, the new ministry, run by the senior members of the Army, David and Jeanette Woodbury and will seek to provide a faith and fellowship event to take place on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Apart from seeking to meet the needs of senior people in the area the event will also seek to fulfill the social and spiritual needs of younger groups such as shift works and at-home parents.
An open invitation is extended to all who may be interested in a relaxed style of faith gathering which will include music from the Wednesday Community Ensemble as well as selected guest
speakers and soloists.
The gathering will be followed by a fellowship lunch.
Coordinating the event will be Majors David and Jeanette Woodbury who were the Salvation Army officers appointed in 1990 to commence the ministry of The Salvation Army in the Menai
area.
After serving the Menai area for some years, David and Jeanette served as the officers at The Gold Coast Temple before being appointed to the administrative staff at headquarters in Sydney.
On their retirement they returned to the fellowship at Menai Salvation Army where they became part of the congregation and now take up the new ministry role.
David and Jeanette have three children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
They look forward to meeting residents from the Menai, Sutherland and other areas at The Wednesday Community to be held on Wednesday, June 28 at 10.30am at the Menai Salvation Army, 11 Pilliga Place, Bangor.
