An all-female choir from Menai has won first place at a big choir competition in Sydney – collecting $4000 in the process.
The Endeavour Harmony Chorus finished first at the recent John Lamble Foundation Australasian Open Choral Championship, organised by Sydney Eisteddfod.
It is the second year running the choir has won the competition held at Sydney Grammar School.
The choir, conducted by Lea Baker, had to qualify to take part in the championship.
As winners of the event, the choristers not only collected the $4000 first prize, and a handsome trophy, but also qualify to compete at the Australian Choral Grand Prix.
That event will have a prize pool in excess of $20,000 and is organised by Sydney Eisteddfod and the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove.
The Australian Choral Grand Prix will be held at Sydney Grammar School on Sunday, August 20 at 2.30pm.
