The busy crafters of Maianbar have been working for months to produce hundreds of cuddly toys and other items for the annual Maianbar Winter Warmers Festival to be held on Sunday.
This includes teddy bears, sock monkeys, rag dolls and other huggable toys, as well as the festival’s trademark pincushions, door snakes, tea cosies, gloves, with and without fingers, hats, beanies, jackets, scarves, wraps, slippers and bed socks.
Creative displays will include spinners and weavers making rugs, warm wraps, shrugs and unique door stoppers.
There will be a cafe selling sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee, and the Maianbar Beach Cafe is located next door selling more substantial fare.
A hand-crafted pure wool throw will be raffled and all money raised from the sales and the raffle will be going to support the Orange Sky Laundry, Australia’s first mobile laundry for the homeless.
Starting in Brisbane and now national, the Orange Sky Laundry sends out a fleet of vans with washing machines and dryers on board, doing the laundry for people living on the streets.
The festival will be held this Sunday, June 25 from 10am to 3pm in the Maianbar community hall, 48 Pacific Crescent.
Entry to the festival is free.
