Young goalkeepers from the Barden Ridgebacks had a surprise last week, visited by Tottenham Hotspur youth team goalkeeper Tom Glover.
Shire junior Glover, 19, has been back home since the end of Spurs’ 2016-17 campaign but will head back to north London for the start of pre-season training next weekend.
Glover helped his former coach, Ron Tilsed, conduct his weekly keeper clinic at Barden Ridge on Tuesday night, with 15 youngsters working under the former Arsenal keeper.
Glover, who returned to Australia for a training camp with the national under-23s squad ahead of AFC under-23s Championships qualifiers in Burma next month, told the Leader it was good to be home.
“[I’ve been working] with Ron and also one of my best mates [Sutherland Sharks keeper] Nathan Denham. I go down to help him with his little kids,” he said.
“I love giving back to these guys. This is where I started. I was in their position once. I aspired and looked up to people who came down.”
