A man was attested and charged after an attempted armed robbery at Kingsgrove on Friday evening.
A police spokesman said, about 6.30pm, a man carrying a knife and with his face covered ran into a convenience store on Proctor Avenue and confronted a male shop worker at a counter.
“The shop worker was able to close a security door, before the man attempted to open it and ran from the store,” the spokesman said.
”A short time later, officers from Campsie Local Area Command arrested a 21-year-old man on Miller Street, Kingsgrove.
“He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with assault with intent to rob and being armed with intent to commit indictable offence.
“The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, June 24.”
