Miranda MP Eleni Petinos said “no comment” following reports of an embarrassing and costly incident that occurred in a ministerial car after last week’s State of Origin game.
Vomit was found in the car, driven by a ministerial driver, which transported Deputy Premier John Barilaro, his daughter, Ms Petinos and a staff member home from ANZ Stadium.
Another ministerial driver was reportedly distressed at finding the car in that state when he started his shift the following morning.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian told 7 News, “There is no doubt that was an unfortunate incident, and that’s been dealt with”.
Mr Barilaro’s office said in a statement the taxpayer would not have to bear any costs.
Labor frontbencher and spokesman for Miranda electorate matters, Walt Secord, said Ms Petinos and Mr Barilaro “owe the community a full and detailed explanation”.
Last week in Parliament, a few hours before the State of Origin game, Mr Barilaro joked about one of his two daughters working as an electoral officer for Ms Petinos.
“We are working at getting the member for Miranda to become a Nationals member by inserting my daughter in her office, so thank you,” he said.
