Three goals in the final six minutes saw Sutherland crash to a 4-1 defeat to Hakoah Sydney City East on Sunday.
The Sharks had led 1-0 after 15 minutes through Patrick O’Shea from a corner and could have doubled their advantage only for Hakoah goalkeeper Anthony Bouzanis to save a Tomohiro Kajiyama penalty.
Kiwi Andre De Jong equalised for Hakoah with just over 20 minutes remaining but a blitz of three goals late on secured the three points for the hosts.
The loss leaves Sutherland in 10th place on 12 points.
Sutherland coach Grant Lee was disappointed with the result, in particular the second half performance.
“We gave away goals with schoolboy errors,” he said.
“Whether it was ball-watching, not tracking runners, not reading the play, we just didn't adjust. Once the first one went in, we got a bit negative and things fell apart.
“We should've been up by at least two at half-time but we've got to learn how to dominate and make the most of our chances and not let our heads drop when things go wrong.”
Sutherland will look to bounce back when they face local rivals Rockdale City at the Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.
