Demolition of the Kogarah RSL Club started today to make way for construction of the 220-apartment Veridian project.
More than 95 per cent of the apartments have been sold before work commences on the $83 million project.
When completed the two-tower, 12-storey development will include a 2000sqm home for the Kogarah RSL Club.
Development partner Capital Bluestone has appointed a builder to deliver the project on land owned by the Kogarah RSL Club, with Westbourne Constructions starting the demolition and construction phase after an on-site ground breaking ceremony today.
The residential component will include a mix of studio and one- to three-bedroom apartments, and basement parking for 240 cars.
Apartments will have views across Botany Bay and to the CBD skyline and the podium level between the two buildings will be a "residents only" area with barbecue facilities and community spaces.
The rooftop terrace will also feature an exclusive owners-only space for socialising including seating areas, barbecues and outdoor cinema.
Buyers to date have included investors, young families, empty nesters and first homebuyers.
The RSL Club have a range of dining options such as alfresco cafes to activate the street-front of Railway Parade.
Bluestone is also the developer of the Sharks Leagues Club project at Cronulla and builder Westbourne Constructions have been awarded the Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Awards in 1996, 1997, 2002, 2015 and 2016.
The Railway Parade site has been designated as a “gateway” to the town centre and director of Westbourne Constructions Derek Pearson the project will inject new life into the Kogarah community,” he said.
The first residents are expected to move in in early 2019.
