In a first for Civic Disability Services at Caringbah, the use of clients’ photographic images on buses has generated a huge response from people with disability and their families.
Civic began running the adverts on bus routes through the Sutherland Shire, Bankstown, Liverpool and Campbelltown areas. The buses feature two of Civic’s clients whose images tell a story that echoes Civic’s vision of ‘Human Potential, Realised’.
“We have had such a great response from the public, families, clients and staff when they have seen the buses out on the road ” Annie Doyle, Civic Disability Services CEO said.
“People have been calling and sending in selfies with the bus. We want to spread the word that we offer a range of services for people with disability and/or mental health conditions. Civic’s aim is to see clients reach their potential and gain independence.”
Civic was founded in 1958 by a group of parents who were caring for their own children with disabilities in the Sutherland Shire.
The two longterm Civic clients who were chosen ,Josh and Stephen were both proudly showing off their Buses to their friends to much applause.
“We are so proud and happy that Josh was chosen to represent Civic. They are an organisation who provide the right amount of support. We have seen him achieve so much including travelling by bus independently. ” Josh’s family said
