The kids at the Koa Kai Outrigger Canoe Club are already making waves.
The club, based at Sandringham, have seen a number of youngsters from the shire join them this year to give outrigging a go.
The program has been a huge success so far, with a crew competing at the state titles at Shoal Bay and bringing home a gold medal.
The club also saw two junior teams compete at the Ettalong Regatta in March where Koa Kai finished first and second.
Koa Kai hold their training sessions out of the Georges River Sailing Club on Sunday mornings.
Their 28 junior members take part in dry land games on the beach to warm up before the session, with the program going for about 90 minutes.
Many of the paddlers come from swimming clubs around the shire, making the most of its benefits as an excellent cross-training sport.
