Waterfall has been named among the worst top 10 suburbs for speeding.
Wilton topped the list with 3066 speeding offences in the last financial year.
That was followed by Mittagong, Mascot, and Nabiac.
Waterfall came in at number five with 1646 speeding offences.
Rounding out the top 10 are Lawson, Cateract , Coffs Harbour, Bilpin and Eastern Creek
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said a recent spike in speeding offences was concerning.
"Nearly 250,000 people were booked for speeding in the last financial year,’’ he said.
“This figure shows our commitment in identifying and prosecuting speeding drivers. However, it also indicates that personal responsibility is lacking on the part of too many road users.
“Speeding is still the number one killer on our roads, contributing to about 40% of fatal crashes.
"When you combine speeding with other risky behaviours such as drink and drug driving, not wearing a seat belt or proper helmet, fatigue, or distraction, the results can be disastrous.
"All too often police, ambulance, Fire & Rescue, and the volunteer emergency services get called to speed related crashes, and those officers are the ones that see first-hand the sad and tragic outcomes on our roads.’’
