I have blood transfusions which make me feel much better.

I would like to thank the blood donors — such a kind, helpful and beautiful thing to do.

I recently suffered a cardiac arrest, fortuitously in a Hurstville medical practice. The medical staff were magnificent and obviously their quick and professional response saved my life. I’m not sure how you can adequately thank people who save your life.

An ambulance was called and the paramedics took over, dealing with a second arrest as I was taken to St George Public Hospital. I was conscious during the journey and vividly recall how caring, professional and concerned was the paramedic watching over me, as she kept me talking and generally encouraging me.

On arrival at St George Hospital I was immediately handed over to the emergency medical staff. There seemed to be quite a team of doctors, nurses and assistants descending on me.

These people were obvious ly highly experienced, very professional and worked together as an excellent team. This gave me great encouragement and a sense of confidence that all would be well. I was receiving the best care possible.

After a visit to the catheter lab, I was taken to coronary care where I remained for the next week, being closely monitored by another team of professional caring people – what a great team they were.

I would like to individually thank all those who cared for me but the list would be so long as to not make that possible.

To all these wonderful people, doctors, paramedics, nursing staff and orderlies, thank you so much for your care.

To those who present at emergency and feel compelled to complain and abuse nursing staff in the hospital ‘‘front office’’ –  you might spare a minute to think about what might be going on ‘‘out the back’’.

St George Public Hospital – you are simply the best.
