They were the first club to use the iconic red V and now St George Randwick Hockey Club have celebrated their 90th anniversary.
The club also used the opportunity to officially open their new change rooms, with a separation of sticks replacing the traditional ribbon cutting, built as part of a Community Infrastructure Grant.
The night, at Kyeemagh RSL, brought together about 220 past and present players including Olympians Brian Booth and Bob Proctor.
Booth, the club’s patron, gave a speech, as did Ken Packham and Les Williams. The club have produced a number of state and international representatives, with St George and Randwick part of the competition since 1927 before merging in 2006. The St George club have called their current site home for the last 51 years.
Plenty of club memorabilia was on display, with the night starting at the end of play of the second grade derby between St George Randwick and Monterey.
