A Miranda man has won just over $1 million after claiming a division one win in Saturday’s Lotto $20 million Superdraw.
The man took almost a week to come forward and said he was thrilled with the win.
“It’s nice to have won some money!,’’ he said.
“It’s going to make living in Sydney in little bit easier.’’
He said he planned to spend the money on his family and donating some to charity.
“It’s just going to take some of the pressure off the everyday living in Sydney and be able to give my son the education I want to give him,’’ he said.
“I’ll also be able to donate some money to charities who have helped me in the past.”
The winning man admitted he wasn’t a regular Lotto player and wasn’t in the habit of checking his tickets often which is why it took nearly a week for him to come forward to claim his prize.
“I checked my ticket online and saw how much I had won, so it’s a nice surprise.’’
He was one of 19 division one winning entries across Australia including seven from New South Wales, nine from Victoria, two from Queensland, and one from South Australia.
Each took home a division one prize of $1,052,631.58.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his marked 50-game QuickPick entry from Giovenco’s Newsagency in Miranda.
Giovenco’s Newsagency team member Gerard Giovenco said that they had been waiting eagerly for someone to come forward and claim the prize.
“It’s so good to hear that another one of our customers is a millionaire,’’ he said.
“We were waiting and waiting for someone to come forward and have been telling all of our customers a division one winner had been sold here.
“I hope the winner enjoys their prize.’’
