The body of a man was found in Kogarah today - on the first day of Homelessness Week.
The man had been sleeping rough in Kogarah for a number of years. His body was found on Monday morning in the former council building car park.
St George police do not believe the death is suspicious.
Officers still remain at the scene and parts of Wicks Lane have been blocked off.
The death comes on the first day of Homelessness Week which takes place on August 7-13.
The theme of this year’s week is ‘Action and Innovation’ and highlights the many effective approaches specialist homelessness services have implemented to prevent and respond to homelessness.
Lala Noronha from the Kogarah Storehouse said there was only a small number of people living rough in Kogarah and most moved around a lot.
She said most visited the Storehouse regularly because of the daily free meals.
