Sutherland remain fourth in the Sydney Hockey Association premier league after a 3-0 win over Ryde on Saturday.
A Kieran Govers drag flick gave Sutho the lead before goals to Matt Bennett and Christian Halyard secured the win. Sutho keeper Nathan Akroyd was named man of the match after making a string of fine saves.
“We were very good today and have been building and improving over the last two months after a tough start to the season but its slowly starting to come together at the right end of the year,” Sutherland coach Peter Tait said.
“We still have a little way to go before the finals but the signs are very good.”
Sutherland’s women’s first grade side also had a 5-0 win over Tartans on Sunday, with the result securing their first finals appearance in three years.
The men’s side host Gordon North Sydney at Sylvania on Saturday as part of the club’s Back to Sutho Day. The club’s women take on St George.
