Rebel and The Athlete's Foot are among stores in for tougher competition when UK clothing and footwear chain JD Sports opens in Westfield Miranda on Thursday, August 17.
Located on level 3 of the centre, it will be JD Sports’ second store in NSW and fourth in Australia.
The company, which promotes itself as King of the Trainers, says it expects a similar response to the Parramatta store debut in July, which was the “largest opening day of trade globally”.
The Miranda store will be 591 square metres, the largest in the chain.
It is offering “more than 50 store exclusives including sold out and limited edition styles across Adidas, Nike, Reebok, PUMA and more”.
“Cult styles like the Nike Sportswear Air Max 97, Air Max 95 and adidas Originals NMD, including JD exclusives, will be launching on opening day,” the company says.
JD Australia chief Hilton Seskin said, “The success of our first three Australian stores has highlighted the consumer demand for JD Sports exclusive product”.
“JD Sports is a digitally focused retail environment that has a wide range of footwear and apparel for men, women and children,” he said.
“We have been able to achieve great results by presenting the customer with the best product and by leveraging the retail theatre that JD Sports is known for globally.”
Promotions for the launch weekend include a sneaker cleaning station, in-store DJ and street dancers.
Doors will open on Thursday at 8.30am for a product launch and 9.30am to the general public.
