A charity in Hurstville is holding an event to help people affected by adoption who might have questions about getting in touch with family members.
The Benevolent Society’s Post Adoption Resource Centre (PARC) will hold an adoption connections meeting in Hurstville on Tuesday, August 22 from 6pm to 8.30pm.
“About one in 15 people in Australia is affected by adoption and we’re finding more and more people are contacting us to ask for information, support or counselling, as well as for help with finding and contacting family members,” PARC team leader Fiona Cameron said.
“Through PARC we provide support. At the meeting we’ll have people talking about their experience and how to go about approaching family members and whether social media is the way to go.”
The meeting is open not only to people who have been adopted but also to anyone affected by adoption.
The meeting will be held at the Benevolent Society office on The Avenue, Hurstville.
It is free to attend but bookings are essential. You can book by calling 1300 659 814 or by emailing parc@benevolent.org.au.
