St George Christian School has rebuilt its infants campus after demolishing three buildings and replacing them with a new facility.
The old buildings were knocked down last year at the campus in Sans Souci before a new building was trucked in at the start of the year. Final touches have since been made to the building which includes five class rooms, a library, offices and amenities.
The official opening for the upgraded campus was held on Tuesday.
St George Christian School community engagement officer Suzanne Newton said the school was rapt with the new facility.
“It has been in use all throughout term two and the official launch [this week] coincided with our school’s book parade,” she said. “The building is age appropriate. At our school, we value this environment for our youngest learners.”
She said what was unique about the upgrade was the new building was trucked in from Newcastle after being constructed off-site. “We decided to do that to minimise the impact on our students and our neighbouring community.”
NSW Governor David Hurley’s wife Linda Hurley opened the new campus on Tuesday. Mrs Hurley used to work at the school.
St George Christian School boasts an infants school in Sans Souci and a main campus at Hurstville.
About 125 pupils attend the infants school. The infants school is located next to Sans Souci Baptist Church.
