A car crash has caused a two-kilometre traffic jam on the Sydney Harbour Bridge just before peak hour, with motorists advised to avoid the area.
The Transport Management Centre said three southbound lanes and one northbound lane were closed after the crash, which involved several cars.
Bus and car commuters were warned to expect lengthy delays.
"Southbound traffic is queued for around two kilometres, and northbound traffic is also heavy," a TMC spokesman said.
"Buses are also delayed by up to 20 minutes."
All lanes were reopened just before 4.30pm, however "very heavy traffic" remained.
Commuters had been told to use the Anzac Bridge and Victoria Road instead, and to allow plenty of extra travel time.
Further delays were felt in the city, with Market Street closed westbound as firefighters battled a blaze at the five-star Swiss??tel.
Four crews wore breathing apparatus gear as they responded to the fire, which was in an exhaust duct on the 10th floor.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said an initial triple zero call at 4.07pm reported the blaze as an electrical fire.
The crews were in "defensive mode" until the fire was extinguished after about half an hour.
Three lanes of Market Street were briefly closed at Elizabeth Street, with motorists told to expect "significant delays".
Just before 5pm, one of the lanes remained closed, with cars able to use Park Street and George Street instead.
