It was another green day for Gymea as the club celebrated winning the local first grade grand final on Sunday, downing Engadine 28-10.
The 18-point victory in the first grade decider capped a huge day for the Gorillas as Gymea secured back to back premierships in the top three grades.
In first grade, the minor premiers overcame a slow start to complete their undefeated season at Southern Cross Group Stadium, Woolooware.
Engadine scored the first try with Gymea having barely touched the ball. But an immediate fightback from the Gorillas saw them lead 16-4 at half-time as Gymea scored 28 unanswered points to be crowned premiers.
Earlier in the day, Gymea also won the reserve grade and Emerging Cup grand finals, downing De La Salle Caringbah 26-18 and St Joseph’s 40-18 respectively to defend the titles they won last season.
The Cronulla Sutherland Junior Rugby League grand finals were played over three days at Shark Park and Captain Cook Oval, with Gymea winning seven deciders overall including victories in the under-14s silver, under-15s bronze finals, under-10s B and under-13s girls league touch finals.
Cronulla Caringbah and De La Salle also won five grand finals each over the picturesque weekend.
