With the start of the A-League season less than a month away, defending champions Sydney FC are making their mark in St George and the Sutherland Shire.
The club have run a free football program at primary schools across Sydney throughout the term as part of their community engagement.
Sydney FC’s Sporting Schools program has visited St George’s Arncliffe and Kogarah public schools this term, with Sky Blues’ community football officer and former Socceroo Paul Reid bringing the A-League premier’s plate and the champion’s trophy with him to Kogarah last Tuesday.
Reid, who is also the player-coach at NPL 1 club Rockdale City, also had a stint as a player at Sydney FC after returning from a career in Europe. Reid spoke to students about the trophies and the upcoming A-League season where Graham Arnold’s men will look to defend their titles.
The club are running a school holiday clinic at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah for the first time this month. The three-day clinic, starting on September 25, will run from 9-3pm and is for girls and boys aged five to 15-years-old.
All participants receive a Sydney FC training shirt, shorts, socks and hat. The club will hold another clinic the following week at Sutherland’s Harrie Dening Centre, starting on October 4.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC advanced to the semi-finals of the FFA Cup after dumping out holders Melbourne City 2-0 at Leichhardt Oval on Wednesday night.
