Students from Mortdale Public School have been selected to represent the Sydney East region in the upcoming NSW PSSA cricket championships.
The Primary School Sports Association holds an annual state championship for school sports with the Sydney regions competing in a round-robin format against one another.
Mortdale students will feature heavily in the Sydney East cricket contingent with four girls and one boy selected for the competition.
The quartet of girls featuring Indi, Bella, Stephanie and Jo will travel to Maitland to compete in November against the other Sydney regions.
Their selection in the competition will allow them to show off their skills against the best young female cricketers in the state.
Meanwhile, Ashton will compete soon after in Orange in the boys competition.
“As a coach of these students, I am pleased to see their hard work and dedication pay off and see deserved reward for their efforts,” Mortdale Public school sports teacher Stephen Brook said.
The tournament will also provide an opportunity for students to impress state team selectors for the national championships which follow in January.
