A morning tea has marked 20 years since the start of conservation in Poulton Park.
Bushcare volunteers both past and present came together for the occasion and were joined by former Kogarah Council staff who supported the team over the years.
The former Kogarah Council initiated the regeneration program because of the degradation done to the area.
Volunteer Janet Hobbs remembered what it used to be like.
‘’Parts of the park were overrun with privet and introduced vines, especially Madeira and Balloon vine, which were strangling the native trees,’’ she said.
Fellow volunteer Tony Matthews said it was a ongoing problem.
‘’It’s a never ending task. You think you’ve got the weeds under control. But you turn your back and there they are again.’’
