John and Helen Jenkins credit a few things to the success of their marriage.
Success, teamwork, respect and communication as well as John admitting ‘you are right’.
The couple will celebrate 60 years of marriage on October 19.
The pair met when they were 15 while working at the GPO during the Christmas holidays.
Their first date was at John’s 16th Birthday with the pair spending the night square dancing.
They were married on October 19, 1957, at St Therese's Catholic Church in Lakemba before settling in Earlwood.
In that time they had six children and moved into a new home in Miranda where they lived for forty two years.
They now have thirteen grandchildren and have downsized to a villa in Sylvania.
They will celebrate their anniversary with Mass and a renewal of their wedding vows at St Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Gymea followed by a party at Cronulla Golf Club.
