Catch me if you can is the latest production of The Regals Musical Society and will be on stage this week at the Rockdale Town Hall.
The musical is inspired by Steven Spielberg’s 2002 Oscar nominated film, Catch Me If You Can, which featured Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Regals stage show is a rendition of the true story of con artist, Frank Abagnale Junior (played by DiCaprio).
Abagnale Jr worked as a doctor, a lawyer, and as a co-pilot for a major airline – all before his 18th birthday. A master of deception, he was also a brilliant forger, whose skill gave him his first real claim to fame: At the age of 17, Abagnale Jr became the most successful bank robber in the history of the U.S.
The musical has been directed by Belinda Robinson and choreographed by Kirrily Shaw featuring sassy dance routines and humorous acting, together with 20 musical numbers in the performance.
The “high energy, toe tapping” musical will run from October 13 to 21.
The production will feature matinee performances beginning at 2pm on October 14, 15 and 21 along with evening performances on October 13, 14, 18, 20 and 21 to begin from 8pm.
The Regals Musical Society has celebrated over 70 years of entertainment as a community based musical theatre incorporation providing live entertainment for its audiences.
Rockdale Town Hall is located at 448 Princes Highway (cnr Bryant St), Rockdale.
