Engadine author and mum Heidi Farrelly has released a new book Choosing Happy which looks to help people living with “low mood”.
Farrelly has written finance books Mortgage Free and Brilliant Budgets and Despicable Debt.
She said her new book was about living with low mood and includes plenty about her own life. She released the book this month to coincide with Mental Health Month in NSW.
“Happiness is something we all chase. And with good reason,” she said.
“There are lots of books on the market which target depression but low mood, which shares many of the same symptoms but in a milder manner, is often overlooked, misdiagnosed, or simply ignored as something that can’t be fixed.”
The book looks at her own story dealing with low mood or high-functioning depression.
“I knew that I wasn’t the only one out there struggling to get through the day and when I successfully used the hacks I discovered to beat my low mood I wanted other people to be able to do the same.”
She said the goal of the book was to be helpful, fun to look at, and easy to read. “I don’t want people to be any more overwhelmed than they already are,” she said with a laugh.
Choosing Happy has been launched on Kickstarter because Heidi wants to raise funds to illustrate the book.
It is only available to pre-order on Kickstarter until October 27.
