Founded from a small patrol tent on the beach in 1966, Elouera Surf Life Saving Club members will celebrate 50 years of service to the community at a club presentation, on December 1.
The club has achieved much over the past five decades including meritorious acts of bravery in the surf, rescues in big seas, many surf competition victories and leadership in administration.
“From a fledgling surf club 50 years ago, we have gained the respect of the public, the council and the beachgoers who throng to our beach in the summer months,” club life member Ian Toll said.
“Building future community leaders is what we are aiming to do at Elouera”
The club is calling for current and former members to gather at the Clubhouse on Friday, December 1 from 4pm to join the celebrations.
Speakers on the day will point to the history of the club with highlights of famous surf rescues, victories in surf carnivals and the absolute success of the Tradies Surf Awareness Community Program which has introduced thousands of children to the surf.
“In competition - few surf clubs in Australia can boast like Elouera - having won the World Life Saving Championships Point Score Trophy as well as the Australian Championship Point Score Trophy,” Mr Toll said.
It will be a special blue and white day for all Elouera members – both past and present.
Limited tickets are available by direct contact with the Elouera Club Office and closing on November 17.
