Two transport heritage grants will help volunteers at the Tramway Museum at Loftus to restore an historic Sydney trolley bus and an old tramway signal box.
The Transport Heritage Grants were presented at the Tramway Museum last weekend by Heathcote MP, Lee Evans and Oatey MP and Secretary for Transport, Mark Coure, along with Transport Heritage NSW director, Howard Collins.
The grants were made under the NSW Government’s annual Transport Heritage Grants program which are presented to not for profit organisations across NSW to help fund projects to conserve and restore heritage assets, as well as educate the community about the history of transport in NSW.
This year grants totalling $150,000 were presented to various heritage transport projects with the Sydney Tramway Museum receiving a total of $22,785 in grant funding.
This included a grant of $13,500 for the restoration of the tramway signal box located at the entrance to the museum.
The museum also received a grant of $9,285 for the restoration of Trolley Bus No 19.
Other grants were made to the Illawarra Light Railway Museum, Sydney Bus Museum, Rail Motor Society, Lachland Valley Railway and the Zig Zag Railyway.
