Scott Cam has asked The Block fans to forgive him after he jokingly called one of his fellow cast members a "bitch" on national television.
On Sunday night's episode, the Gold Logie winner said "that Shaynna's a bitch, isn't she?" after revealing her tough scores for the contestants' front yards.
Cam was referring to interior designer Shaynna Blaze, who has been a judge on Nine's hit renovation show since 2012.
The host's use of the b-word was widely condemned on social media, and on Tuesday morning the former carpenter hit the airwaves to apologise for causing offence.
Cam told Nova's Fitzy and Wippa Blaze didn't take offence but he rang her on Monday to apologise anyway. He said he and the interior designer are "very good mates" and are both aware that sometimes you say the wrong thing on television in the heat of the moment.
"Sometimes I'm an idiot," he said. "I do things to get a rise out of the contestants. It was disrespectful - I shouldn't have done it in hindsight."
The TV personality also called in to Brisbane's Stav, Abby and Matt with Osher to say the comment was "poor judgement".
"Obviously I said that in complete jest," he said. "We [Blaze and I] are fantastic friends and we've worked together for a lot of years. She's incredible."
