Fifty years after the Beatles stopped touring; their music remains popular with people of all ages who grew up with the legendary British group that changed pop music forever.
Along with their children and grandchildren they are all keen to be part of real live Beatles experience.
The Beatnix, regarded as the best Beatles tribute show in Australia, are taking people back to Beatlemania.
Founder, Tony Dean who formed the group in Perth in 1980 eight months before John Lennon was fatally shot, said the recent release of a Beatles remastered DVD and now The Beatles being available on ITunes had also fuelled interest in live performances of Beatles music.
“People can’t get enough of the authentic Beatles sound, they never go out of style” Dean said.
“So many people who loved them in their heyday did not get to see them perform so they love dancing along as we belt out their favourite tunes in true Beatles style along with the costumes and on-stage quips typical of the Fab Four.”
Of course staging an authentic tribute is more than looking the part and time and money has been invested in assuring the essence of the Beatles sound carries from vocals to instrument.
Fans of the real thing will be impressed by the extent to which the Beatnix have gone to gather instruments in keeping with the real players.
They make use of such classic instruments as: Gretsch Country Gentleman, Rickenbacker 12 String, Gibson SG, Rickenbacker Bass, Gibson Acoustic J16OE, Rickenbacker 320 short-scale and of course a Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl drum kit. Keeping it real, they also use Vox amplifiers.
The Beatnix play a string of Beatles favourites.
Songs include Twist & Shout, I Saw Her Standing There, Please Please Me, Hard Days Night, Eight Days A Week, Can’t Buy Me Love, Help, All My Loving, She Loves You, All You Need Is Love, Sgt Peppers LHCB, Penny Lane, Come Together, Get Back and Hey Jude.
The Beatnix play the Taren Point Bowling Club on Saturday, November 18 at 8.30pm.
