There’s a new Aussie in Cronulla looking to make a difference.

Aussie Home Loan chairman John Symond, and Sutherland Mayor, Councillor Carmelo Pesce, officially opened Aussie’s new Cronulla store in Gerrale Street today.

Mr Symonds, the son of Lebanese immigrant fruit shop owners who founded his unique home loan company in 1992, spoke fondly about his brief time living in La Boheme Avenue, Caringbah, as a child where his parents moved to raise their young family.

The new store, Aussie’s 215th is owned by one of Aussie’s former top executives and local resident Vaughan Fowler and his wife Fiona.

Mr Fowler decided to establish Aussie Cronulla after 11 years spent working with Aussie Home Loans  – his last position being general manager Distribution.

“Aussie Cronulla is seeing many first home buyers keen to get into apartments in the area utilising the First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme, while other customers are looking to refinance their mortgages and take advantage of the currently low interest rates,” Mr Fowler said.

The Fowlers and their three sons are lifetime residents of the Sutherland Shire and they are passionate about the local community having set up sponsorship arrangements with community groups.

For each home loan settled over $400,000, Aussie Cronulla will make a cash donation to either Cronulla Surf Club’s Crays junior activities group or Cronulla High School.

There is also an annual cash donation to The Crays and sponsorship of a Life Saving Skills Day for nippers.

“We are so grateful for the generous support provided by Fiona and Vaughan, who have been valued members of our surf club with their children for many years,” Michelle Cole chairwoman of Cronulla Crays said.

“We urge all of our members and families to go to Aussie Cronulla for their home loans so they can help the Crays in creating safer conditions for young people in the water.”

Aussie Cronulla will be backed up by Aussies’ unique mortgage software which ranks home loans quickly and accurately for their customers to ensure they can choose the right home loan for their needs.
