The voices of 100 local singers will unite when the Sutherland Shire Children’s Choir joins with the Endeavour Harmony Chorus for an end of year concert on November 24.
It is the first time both choirs have held a combined concert since 2014.
The choirs will be accompanied by a professional band and will perform a program of light and festive music.
The program will include children’s choir performing traditional Christmas songs, a comical version of the Twelve Days of Christmas and a Muppets Medley, along with a special performance by the Endeavour Harmony Chorus.
“Both choirs are excited to be working together and will perform a massed finale,” Sutherland Shire Children’s Choir director Natalie Woodcock said.
“I hope the local community will come along and enjoy our concert. The inspiring energy and singing of children is the embodiment of the joyful spirit of Christmas.
“I love directing the Sutherland Shire Children’s Choir. A child who sings is a happy child. Their sound is pure and resonant, coming from their very heart. There is no sense of judgment or inhibitions. Music connects these children and I feel part of a wonderful community.”
The Endeavour Harmony Chorus have won the Regional Barbershop Championships and have represented Australia on the international stage at Sweet Adelines International, the world's largest singing organisation for women.
Both choirs are looking for new members.
The Sutherland Shire Children’s Choir is currently recruiting children aged six to 18 years. Auditions and a free trial rehearsal are coming up soon. Contact Natalie Woodcock at 0415 796 095 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Endeavour Harmony Chorus will have its next new member intake in early 2018. Visitors are welcome at any of their rehearsals, held Tuesdays 7pm at the Jannali Uniting Church, Box Rd, Jannali.
The choirs’ combined end of year concert will be held at the Engadine Community Centre Auditorium on Saturday, November 24 at 4pm.
