The Kogarah Storehouse’s popular Christmas Market has returned with plenty of bargains for shoppers who may be on a tight budget.
“Although Christmas is meant to be a happy and joyful time, this isn't how everyone feels at this time of the year,” Kogarah Storehouse manager Lala Noronha said.
“Christmas can be a stressful and depressing time for many people. The expense of gifts and food, the pressure of shopping and the expectations of the season can make Christmas an extremely stressful time.
“ The Christmas Market, at The Kogarah Storehouse is making sure everyone can afford to buy Christmas presents.”
The market includes new cook books and DVD’s, children’s toys, cosmetics, jewellery, handicraft, handbags, hampers and many more unique items
Proceeds raised from the Christmas Market will go to support community programs run by the Storehouse throughout the year.
“It is from community for community programs,” Lala said.
The Kogarah Storehouse is recognised as a charity with DGR status, affiliated with Brighton-Kogarah Uniting Church.
The Christmas Market helps to maintain welfare services and food programs by providing food parcels and healthy, nutritious lunches to our community.
The Kogarah Storehouse has been providing welfare help in the St George area since 1992 and assists over 3800 clients per year with emergency relief and emergency food programs.
Since March 2015, this funding has been withdrawn by the government.
The Christmas Market is open five days a week, Monday to Thursday 10am to 3pm, Friday 10am to 12.30 pm at Uniting Church Kogarah, corner of Gray and Kensington Street.
The Kogarah Storehouse’s Christmas Market ends on December 22.
