The Wishing Tree Appeal is celebrating 30 years of Christmas generosity for the country's most disadvantaged families.
The appeal run by Kmart and the Salvation Army has collected more than eight million presents since 1987.
Both the Sylvania and Hurstville Kmart stores are participating in 2017.
Southgate’s 24-hour Kmart Sylvania officially launched its annual appeal with Santa Claus, Rudolph the red rose reindeer and a Christmas quartet.
Centre retailers, Stapleton’s Quality Meats and Sportsgirl to name a few, were the first customers to donate gifts to 24-hour Kmart Sylvania’s Wishing Tree.
Kmart Hurstville, located within Westfield Hurstville, held its appeal launch on November 15.
With more than 2.9 million Australians currently living in poverty, Australia’s largest and longest running Christmas gift Appeal will once again support children, adults, seniors and families who are unable to afford gifts at Christmas and beyond.
Members of the community can get involved by placing a gift under the Wishing Tree at 24-hour Kmart Sylvania, dropping spare change in a coin collection box at any register, and/or taking a bauble tag off the Wishing Tree and scan the barcode at any register to contribute.
Gifts do not need to be wrapped.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is on until Sunday, December 24.
