Budding actor and filmmaker Ezekiel Sciacca hopes to one day star in a Hollywood film.
While it’s the dream of many a young talent – he is off to a bright start.
Ezekiel, 10, from Lucas Heights Community School, has featured in television ads for Nickelodeon, Sea Life and Uncle Tobys and recently won top honours at a popular film festival, the Bloodfest Kids Horror Film Festival Challenge.
He starred in and directed a five-minute film titled Tip Tap Scratch which took out the Best Film Award at Bloodfest for children aged 8 to 12. He won $500 and a trophy for his efforts.
“I only heard about it in March when my agent for acting emailed my mum about it,” he said. “My film was all about a werewolf that escaped this prison.”
He enlisted the help of family and friends to join the cast.
Ezekiel said he preferred acting over filmmaking and hoped to star in a Spider Man film one day in Hollywood.
“I started acting when I was 5 and before that I liked dancing.
“I really liked dancing like Michael Jackson and my mum would put me into concerts. After that she thought it might be good to start acting,” he said.
“It is really fun and I want to grow up to be an actor and be just like Tom Holland who is the new Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Ezekiel has also worked as a toy tester for Toys ‘R’ Us over the past year. He said he received plenty of toys for his work, some of which came in handy for his latest short film.
His mum Chantal Sciacca said her son had enjoyed entertaining since he was little.
“I don’t know where he gets it from,” she said with a laugh.
“He has been acting professionally, in terms of getting paid, since he was 5.
“He has always been confident talking to adults and he takes directions well and he just loves it.”
Ezekiel also recently acted in a series of short films made by Sutherland Shire Family Services to raise awareness and support for victims of domestic violence.
