Penshurst Public School pupils have got right behind a project to help people in the Solomon Islands.
The project saw the school’s Year 6 pupils learn about life in the Solomon Islands including researching the life-threatening disease malaria.
They then built and decorated bamboo stools which have since been displayed in the foyer at St George Leagues Club – with the aim of selling them as a fundraiser.
The proceeds will go towards malaria tablets and education for parents in the suburb of Gilbert Camp in the Solomon Islands.
The stools are still up for sale by contacting the school on (02) 9580 3400 or by visiting the St George Leagues Club. The stools will remain on display at the leagues club until December 15.
The Lions Club of Lugarno generously supported the children to be able to take part in the project, which is also known as the Sustainability Education Art Teamwork (SEAT) Project.
