Carols in the Park, presented by Gymea Baptist Church, will once again bring the joy of Christmas to Seymour Shaw Park, Miranda, this Sunday.
With a line-up headed by Emma Pask and the ever popular Colin Buchanan, Carols in the Park will be a wonderful night for the whole family.
The entertainment will start from 6pm, with a live nativity experience complete with real animals plus craft activities and Christmas face-painting for kids. There will a BBQ and food vendors on hand to make sure no-one goes hungry.
The program will also feature a 16-piece band and choir with organisers expecting more than 5,000 people to join in celebrating Christmas.
The night will end with a fireworks display.
Award winning vocalist Emma Pask has firmly established herself as one of Australia’s favourite voices in Jazz. Her talent was first spotted by James Morrison during one of his regular visits to high schools when she was just 16 years old.
Emma first sang with James’ band that night and their musical collaboration has continued to entertain audiences nationally and internationally over the past 20 years.
She has been awarded a ‘Mo’ for Jazz Vocalist of the year, received ARIA award nominations and has performed for VIP audiences including the late Diana Princess of Wales and Princess Mary of Denmark.
Emma makes regular appearances on national television shows such as The Today Show, Mornings, and has co hosted Studio 10.
In 2013 Emma was signed by Universal music and she released her Christmas album “Season of my heart”. This also held the number one position on the Jazz Charts for many weeks and was nominated for an ARIA award for Jazz Album of the year.
Colin Buchanan is one of Australia’s best known entertainers. His role in Playschool has endeared him to tens of thousands of Australian children and his Christian themed children’s albums have made him popular around the world.
Supported by Sutherland Shire Council and business sponsors from across the Sutherland Shire, Gymea Baptist Carols in the Park will have something for everybody.
Senior Pastor Marc Rader, said that the night could not be possible without the help of so many volunteers.
“It’s fantastic to see so many people embracing the event and giving up their time at such a busy time of year,” he said.
Families are encouraged to bring along a picnic rug, family and friends and take some time out to celebrate the joy of Christmas!
