Moorefield estate residents obtained little new information at a meeting with Roads and Maritime Services officials to discuss stage one of the F6 extension.
Anne Field, chair of the Moorefield Estate F6 Committee, said they were advised an environmental impact statement would be released in mid-2018, and a project design would be available in March next year.
RMS had advised it was in the very early stages of planning stage two of the motorway, from Kogarah to Captain Cook Bridge, and the state government had made no commitment or given a time frame.
Ms Field said they were told it was likely the on / off ramps in the vicinity of President Avenue would have a T intersection.
RMS had also advised the width and the design of the tunnel had not yet been decided.
The location of the ventilation stack at the Kogarah end had not been decided.
RMS had confirmed the stacks would not be filtered, citing advice from a tunnel advisory group and the Chief Scientist that there would be no discernible decline in air quality.
Ms Field said they were told RMS had met with TAFE to discuss the impact on traffic at the corner of President Avenue and Princes Highway.
Ms Field has also written to the general managers of Georges River and Bayside councils about the traffic situation.
She told them no mention was made in the scoping report on traffic from the western side of the Princes Highway that would travel most likely to President Avenue and then to the tunnel.
“The Kogarah LEP 2012, New City Plan...has permitted a huge increase in the density of dwellings in the area surrounding St George Girls High School in Victoria Street, Kogarah,” she wrote.
Ms Field said there appeared to be conflict between the Planning Department allowing increased density and RMS seeking to build a tunnel to ease traffic congestion.
A “holistic approach” was needed to managing traffic in the area, she said.
The recently formed group F6 Action is urging residents affected by the F6 extension to provide comment by the December 22 deadline on the RMS application for the project to be declared State Significant Development.
